Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin – Irish Language Centre
BACKGROUND
Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin is a £4million, purpose-built Irish language, cultural and enterprise centre based in the Walled City’s historic Great James Street area. It will act as a hub for a variety of different cultural and arts organisations throughout the Northwest region.
THE PROBLEM
Although the roof was relatively new, the client wished to apply a coating that would exceed the waterproofing capability of felt. It was also thought that the roof could have been developed into a terrace area with the addition of flags and gravel.

D V Ferry asked us to supply a product that covered all requirements. Patterson Protective Coatings Ltd specified Tor Elastaseal, a liquid cold applied roof coating. It cures to provide completely seamless waterproof protection. Its curing process is moisture triggered, allowing application even in damp conditions.waterproof protection.

Patterson Protective Coatings Ltd inspected the roof, and then specified Tor Elastaseal 15yr as a seamless, breathable and cold applied durable coating.
Liquid roofing is the process of applying high technology waterproof coating systems onto roof substrates. These systems can be applied as new, or over existing roof membranes and are suited to flat, pitched and domed roof designs. Significantly, there are no hot works involved, meaning a property can remain safely in use whilst the roof is being refurbished.
The completed coating system encapsulates the entire roof seamlessly including any plant and protrusions and forms a breathable, waterproof barrier.
