The Skainos Centre
BACKGROUND
The Skainos Centre is an urban regeneration development in inner East Belfast providing shared space for community transformation and renewal. Growing out of the work of the East Belfast Mission (EBM) it brings together a range of strategic partnerships which will contribute to the holistic regeneration of one of the most economically and socially deprived communities in Northern Ireland.
Skainos gathers under one roof all aspects of the work undertaken by EBM including homelessness services, employability, social economy projects, youth work, family work, community development and peace building as well as a vibrant worshipping community. A range of partners also share the space including Age NI, Choice Housing Association, Fighting Words, Irish Methodist Youth & Children Work, Methodist Missionary Society, New Life Counselling, Niamh, Replay Theatre Co. and Tearfund.
THE PROBLEM
Steel Staircase required a decorative but very hard wearing finish both on the steel treads and the steel walls and handrails.
THE SOLUTION & BENEFITS
Jotun Paints manufacture anti-corrosive and durable decorative coatings. Long lasting and hard wearing, this ensures it will keep the staircase in tip top condition for many years before its first maintenance. The client required a high gloss finish so Hardtop AS was selected.
Jotun’s topcoats are tailor made for different usage situations and comprise various technologies. The Pilot product range represents products where high performance can be expected for a certain time period whereas the Hardtop product range are products where high performance can be expected for a longer period of time.
