BACKGROUND
The Translink NI Railway Engineering Depot is a state of the art facility and was constructed at a cost of £28 million to maintain a Translink NI fleet of 20 class 4000 trains. The facility includes engineering, refuelling, train washing and train stabling.
THE PROBLEM
The requirement was for an easily maintained but durable floor finish. Slip resistance was required to all areas with increased resistance in walkways which were also demarcated in a contrasting colour.
THE SOLUTION & BENEFITS
Remmers Epoxyflex Coating PH was used throughout the facility with slip resistance increased by the addition of Add 250, a polymer bead additive to give a slip resistant but cleanable finish. Slip resistance was further increased to walkways with the addition of Quartz 03-06.
Remmers can create the right base with slip resistant floor coating systems, safety can be guaranteed for every step you take. Thanks to tested system quality, not only are the strict rules of the professional trade associations met but so too are all required slip resistance classes from low (R 9) to high (R 13). In addition, the floor coating systems can be formulated for different displacement space classes (V-classes). This is required when moisture or other liquids, such as fat and oil that promote slipping are a daily hazard. This guarantees that slipping and accidents are prevented. Especially in areas where sharp knives and equipment are used, the highest degree of job safety is very important.
