Jotun Marathon 550 is a two-component polyamine-cured epoxy coating.

Jotun Marathon 550 is a surface-tolerant, abrasion-resistant epoxy primer designed for use in areas with high to very high corrosivity. Specifically, it is well-suited for environments such as splash zones and tidal zones, where harsh conditions are common. Furthermore, Marathon 550 can be used as a primer, midcoat, finish coat, or as a single-coat system in both atmospheric and immersed environments—and importantly, it continues to cure even when immersed in water.

In addition, Marathon 550 is surface-tolerant and can be applied on moist substrates, offering flexibility in challenging application conditions. Its excellent resistance to cathodic disbonding enhances its performance in submerged or partially submerged environments.

This makes it especially suitable for structural steel and piping exposed to corrosive environments, ranging from atmospheric to fully immersed conditions. Moreover, it is recommended for demanding sectors such as offshore environments, refineries, power plants, bridges, buildings, mining equipment, and general structural steel. Particularly, it excels in areas where high mechanical strength is essential, such as splash zones. Additionally, it is compatible with cathodic protection systems, making it a reliable choice for comprehensive corrosion protection strategies.
